Hello! I am Madhu from Class 401 in RGS and welcome to my Math blog! :)
Last year, my performance in Math improved quite significantly from Year 1 and 2. I think that my improvement can be attributed to the fact that in 2014, I asked more questions in class to clarify all my doubts and practised more by making use of the revision and supplementary exercises. This also exposed me to challenging questions, thus preparing me better to solve challenging questions in assessments. Additionally, attempting more challenging questions as practice has also helped greatly in reinforcing my understanding of the concepts involved in the topic and hence, improved my ability to apply the formulae in solving the questions. Previously, in Year 1 and 2, I did not give as much importance to practising questions but rather spent more time revising the basic concepts in each topic and looking through the questions I had previously done in the worksheets. Over the past year, I have realized that this way of learning and revising does not work very well for me, fundamentally because it does not give me the opportunity to familiarize myself with the concepts as much, and thus undermining my grasp of the concepts.
So far, I have performed consistently well in Mathematics, attaining a 4.0 for Math in both Year 1 and 2. In Year 3, I have managed to do even better, in term of achieving a higher overall percentage for Mathematics 1 and 2. The reason for the improvement in my performance can undeniably be ascribed to the change in my studying method that I have elaborated about above. In 2015, I hope to keep up my performance in Math 1 and 2 and achieve similar results to that of my performance in Year 3 :) I also hope to enjoy learning Mathematics as much as I did last year!
My weakness lies in non-routine problem solving and in topics that involve graphs. I hope to be able to improve in these areas over the course of this year too!
